Hey girly, hey! To make a long story short, I recorded a quick video about a new planner my mentor, Nellie, introduced me to for the new year. It’s got the detail that I need in a planner at an amazing price point – so much so that I wanted to share all of the details. I’m sure many of you are looking to purchase a new planner for the new year! (Hint… less than $20 bucks, and easily found at the one and only Target) You can either watch this video or read the transcription down below for all of the deets. Enjoy my loves!
If you already bought a planner, I’d love to hear all about it, and I’m sure others would too. Please leave a comment down below with the scoop on your fave planner! Also, while we are on the subject of planners/calendars, be sure to check out my little secret on keeping everyone in your household on the same page in this post.
Video Transcription – Save Big Moolah on your 2018 Planner:
Hey friends, I don’t know about you, but I’m already in 2018 mode.
We’re less than a week away from Christmas, which means New Year’s is just around the corner! Can you believe we are less than two weeks away from New Year’s?
I was recently talking to my mentor about getting a new planner because I myself am a planner. I really like having a list in front of me and I like checking things off as I complete them.
Another reason I like planners is because I can take a quick peek to see what I’ve got going on and when. If a friend asks what I’m up to in two Saturdays from now, I normally know. In fact, I can often tell them what them what I’m doing On a Saturday two months from now. All I have to do is flip through my planner.
Ok, back to my story about this planner that you’ve been staring at. I was talking to my mentor about getting a new planner for the New Year, and I had an idea of what I wanted. What I really had my heart set on is the Daily Action Planner, but do you know how much I was going to have to shell out for that puppy?! $40 bucks for 3 months. I liked the idea of planning 3 months at a time, but $160 dollars total for four of those to cover the entire year is really, really crazy. The price point seriously had me on the fence about buying it for an entire week.
For 2017, I actually used an Erin Condren Lifeplanner that covered the entire calendar year, but it was still over $50 bucks and I think it was even more by the time I paid for shipping and a customized cover. Don’t get me wrong, the cover was super cute, but probably not worth how much I spent.
So anyways, back to the story. My mentor, Nellie, said “Girl… just go to Target!” She said she had just bought a planner there a couple of days ago. It’s awesome and she spent less than $20 dollars total.
At this point in our conversation, I thought “Oh my gosh…. I need to go buy one right now.” That was it. A trip to target was in the works for me over the weekend.
So let’s dig in. I bought the Day Designer for BlueSky. You can see that it covers the full 12 months in 2018. The cover is gold and girly. I really am digging the style of this one.
On the inside, you can put some of your personal information toward the front, in case you ever lose it.
Right off the bat, you’ve got four calendar years worth of dates, so if you ever want to know what day your anniversary falls on in 2021, you can do that! There are some beautiful gold stickers that you can use how ever your heart desires! The planner has these awesome tabs along the side, so you can easily flip to whatever month you need to look at. There are also some helpful goal planning worksheets in here!
If I were to flip to any of the month tabs, the first two pages provide the full month view. This is outstanding. Then, if you go to any of the daily pages, you will have a standard daily template, including the Top 3, a quote, the day’s schedule, a to do list, evening plans, and gratitude.
Do you know what I love the most about the day view? The top three are right there at the top of the page for you to fill out. These past few weeks I’ve been practicing coming up with and completing my top 3, in order to get used to it for the new year. This entails writing down three things that you want to get done today… not tomorrow… not next week. Today!
In the daily view, you can see what’s going on in the hourly schedule on the left. To the right of that is a section where you can write out your to-do list for the day. Anything that’s not in your top three that is on your mind and kind of hanging over your head could go here. It really helps to get what you’re thinking down on paper and do a brain dump on occasion.
Additionally, as mentioned before, there is space to write down what you’re doing tonight. You can also write down what you’re thankful for. This is amazing, because honestly you, my friend, are so blessed. Despite how crazy your day was, there is someone that has it way worse than you. Showing gratitude and just realizing how good you’ve got it is a great thing to do on a daily basis.
Finally, one more thing…. Nellie told me she spent less than $20. Do you know this amazing, shiny, gorgeous planner was only $14.99 (plus tax)?!
So in short, if you haven’t bought a planner for the new year yet, run to Target! If you don’t like the daily view that I fell in love with in this particular planner, don’t fret…. Target also has a weekly version. In fact, Nellie got the weekly view because she likes being able to see her whole week spread over two pages. So – if that’s more up your alley, Target also has weekly planners for sale.
Like I said earlier… $14.99 is the price point and I really don’t think you are going to get so much value packed into a planner for any less than that. I think this is a steal. I just had to share this little tip that my awesome mentor shared with me. Talk to yah later girlfriends!
